Seem to be loving a tint this week. Maybe cause I'm thinking about paper types and colours for zine covers etc. See Liam paying sweet tribute to Jesus in this photo. Go check out his work, he is a demon on the needle. We used to do a hilarious thrash band, he got too thrash, i got too lazy, the rest is history. I don't think i could scream like that now if i tried. The things we do, luckily, we never got past rehearsals, otherwise it could have destroyed his future as a budding a talented tattooist! serious!

last night was supposed to be a quick dive to a rad show (Cerebral Ballzy, Trash Talk, Fucked Up) but it took a turn for the worse.

x2 mojto's, x1 bloody Mary, X3 beers, X? tequila, x? whiskeys and x2 bike crashes later i made it home. I would like the thank the very talented friends and company that was kept, Victor for giving me a good head start on the cocktails, the kind Alibi establishment for providing me with a drinking hole to end the night, new friend Mike Title for providing the witching hour music and Arnica for easing the many bruises i collected.

so i am currently burning through thousands upon thousands of photos to start sorting my zines out. I have come across so many significant photos. The zines will be in B/W so quite often photos don't translate because its the colours that make them V's the composition. Here is a photo somewhere between driving from Barcelona to London in 2008. It reminded me of a vintage postcard. I think it would pretty sweet enlarged and printed (with the road barrier cropped out).

On Friday i was down South bank and came across their most recent installation. It is an amazing replica of the city built of small bricks. It really gave me a refreshed bit of perspective. We spend so much time contemplating trivial issues. If we put half as much energy into taking everything life throws as us through positive eyes, we would achieve so many incredible things.

I started saying yes to everything about 2 months ago, and despite the fact this is going to make me sound like a massive hippy, the idea that somehow the good energy thats been going out, its flying back at me, feels pretty awesome. Iv not felt this awesome in years. Sadly i could not find a good video for this band. But here is possibly the most posi song you can ever find buy HC band Good Clean Fun. I used to love this band as a nipper.

Went for a stroll today after a delightful breakfast with home girl sally. I came across a bunch of street treats in the way of graffiti, signs, and righteous messages. Someone had been out their waving their flag and i have up most respect for that. No matter what the cause. If you feel strongly about something, write it on the walls, and stand by your opinion. its commendable.

Some of my discovers were sweet, some hilarious, others serious. All i ask is that you pay attention to the messages strangers post. as conditioned as we are to filter out the hundreds of messages we are bombarded with on a daily basis, some are more sincere than others. You never know where they will take you.

Now, I dont know how I feel about this but I have Been trying a bunch of new photo aps. This one clearly mimics a photobooth. As much as you don't get the divine sense of touch compared to holding a real print in your hand, I guess it serves a purpose in the digital world ( that could just vanish in a heartbeat) so for now, I back it. Also i got a great tiltshift ap.

I would Like to add however that at the same time I am paying for an awesome little man to hand print some medium format enlargements. So I am always fighting to analogue corner, amen!

So i met these guys on a recent flight from London to Lisbon. as absurd as it sounds, we all bonded over a very complex individual that seemed to board our plane in sunglasses, an all over print polyester green bubble print shirt, and quacked from London to Lisbon. No joke, give me a quack... that's what he did the whole journey.

i would like to thank him none the less, he broke the ice between a a set of highly creative dudes, and familiar faces that knew their music all to well. If you have not heard this band. Get your shit together. Phenomenal, beautiful, essential. They are by no means a one hit wonder, nor are they dreamy kids snapped up buy the impulsive A&R savages. They have cultivated their sound for years, until it was just right for fond ears. Not as a financial venture, but as creative suffocation.

So just a couple a shitty snaps from my recent trip to Spain, ex pat central. Pretty chill trip with a lot of beer drinking, eating and extended Hunter S Thompson stories. He is the only mentor you need. Say yes to everything, do not hesitate. This past month iv taken it upon myself to try and say Yes to everything, and well, it seems to be paying off so far. That excludes any sexual propositions so go put those thoughts to bed if your creepy mind went there.

We ventured out to a couple of graduate shows to support some friends, checked out some boutique stores, gigs, and the launch of a much over due issue of FUN magazine at the alibi and drank their Whisky.

some great work coming through the pipeline, i just hope the creative industries don't fail these young hopefuls before they make their way up the ladder.

Lisbon/ Faith No More

So i got back from a pretty hectic trip last night. Spin- Berlin - Lisbon. Here are a few shots from the Lisbon trip to meet with our new friends Faith No More. We went out to Optimus Prime festival to meet up, eat some of their personal Spit roast (on the rider would you believe) and to watch the show. We made some new friends on the flight over with Silver Lakes finest 'Local Natives' and bonded over the close proximity of a crazy dude that quacked the whole way form London to Lisbon.

The hotel was pretty sweet, and we took some red buggies out along the river side for some sober relief. All in all a great trip, great new friends and a a new thirst for Portugal's own brew Super Bock. I will be returning asap, with love RP

and then my front bike wheel got stolen ( the only bit of my bike that was not locked). But the booth makes it all ok, a bike wheel is far more accessible then a vintage, analogue, b/w photo booth. New technology has destroyed there being any hope of beauty in future photo booth pictures, and thats just a single example. I will be going here weekly. Oh yes!

But here are the few photos i did manage to take on the trip. It was a colourful place to my new eyes, and i hope to go back again to really understand what Texas is about, not the music industry that descends on it once a year. Missing the mexican food!

Every time i see one of these, these being an empty billboard i get a sense of clarity. Living in a busy city like London subjects the average alert mind to a point blank assault by the nameless salesmen. So much so that an empty billboard provides the equivalent sensation of looking at an open field or a beautiful horizon. It really does aid me in a clear mind which is sad, but true. Will a horizontal surface ever just be a surface again? i very much doubt it. Is a calm mind more important that the selling of temporary vices? yes. it is.

So its official, we had a white Christmas, and there is a lot more Snow due to fall. The first night that really reminds you that winter is here is bonfire night. a night of bonfires and fireworks to celebrate an attempt by Guy Fawkes in 1605 to blow up the houses of Parliament. Just in time for several houses of explosions in a cold field, i managed to get a personal scarf finished for Miss Connelly of `Little Press'. Looking good!

This is seriously how we operate, RP is indeed two people, two people that know each other so well, that everything we make together, even a quick fix of fruit seems to end up looking photogenic. The Noah's arc of kitchen utensils and fruit they indeed came in two by two.

NYC

So we took a fleeting trip to NYC in Oct 09 (yes sorry we know this is back blogging) for work. Due to the fact it was a work trip seeing the RP family was proving tricky, but we did our best to see and embrace the many favorite individuals this city nurtures.

In no particular order here is what we did and for some there are no photos, thus proving the lack of photo focus on this trip. I know, its not a good habit.

a) Dropped off a Birthday gift to our special blog sister Besosyfotos in the shape of a personalized embosser to emboss future photos, paper goods and letters of love.

b) checked out a big flea market in midtown, and made Alex have to rag around manhattan on his motorbike trying to catch up with us to say good bye, sadly i missed him.

c) visited new homes of secret lovers. Tow wonderful friends have just got a new home together, one of which relocated to NY. So it was great to hit up greenpoint and see their sincere faces. This has also given birth to a great exchange of postcards, greeting, and snail mail. Something RP is very fond of. Keeping it old school.

oh and some killer photo on the fridge :)

d) ate lots of amazing mexican food and tried some new munch spots with my favorite friends, and also made some new ones :)

e) watch new lovers being sweet and smitten, warmed me up no end

f) chased lines around brooklyn that lead me to new thrift spots, stores and retail wonders, as guided by the magical Miss Sturges.

g) agreed with a wall implying Madonna should just give it up.

h) ate as much of the whole food salad bar as possible in Union Square.

i) stayed in the new Standard Hotel in the meat packing district. It was a total delight with every tiny detail well considered. Even the typography on the toiletries were divine. Good eggs too.

j) enjoyed some serious NY Pizza at the usual spot, i can still taste that slice it kills me.

k) went to the movies

l) ate more with Alex

m) sent too many texts to a lover

n) Thrift shopped like a bastard

o) had night time walks with a Canadian Home girl, neither of us know we were both in the city the same night. Thanks Ichat for letting that happen.

if i put any more i think this will get tedious, but as you cans see a great chance to see some fond faces.

organic myths

On a trip to the country at the end of last year we took a small walk in the hills after indulging in many a hearty meal. After a small rain fall we were given a little present in the shape of a a strong rainbow. We grabbed a few photos on the walk, it almost felt like safari, trying to catch a shot of a mythical creature that would run for the hills at any given moment.

i know their is a clear scientific explanation to these arcs of light, but is it ok to ignore them for a while and just be the dreamers we are told not to be? today we say yes.

Now there is a secret little place where we like to go for eggs. RP has passed this secret to several key friends and its generally quite a clean cut sweet ass brunch spot. This amazing guy plays pop songs in a jazz style on a grand piano in the middle of the dinning room and its all pretty fun and chill. Once a year various music folk gather in the seaside town of Brighton to watch hundreds of clusters of new blood play shows in the hope of bagging the next big artists of the forth coming years. RP went down this year to see what its all about, hang with friends, and attend a few shin digs on the way.

Swine flu this

So when swine flu kicked in this year, it was good to know that you could get 50 face masks for a fiver on Brick Lane. What a load of bullshit. If i did not read papers or watch the news i swear to god id have no clue this was going on, and still know nobody it effected. Take your hype and jump.

Berlin ahoy

So in july we took a quick trip to Berlin for a trade show. We spent 2 days looking around, scoping things out. met up with key friends who were there for the same event and spent a relentless night of consumption in various apartments, bars, and restaurants. We have some seriously good food there, and the shopping is pretty sweet. Some of the window displays and merchandising there is like art in it-self.

One key historic building states in huge red neon lights "all art was once contemporary" which got us thinking. Anyway, some pretty nondescript images from a prolonged adventure.

Way overdue but the week MJ died RP was off to Berlin for a trade show and general hang times. This was what one of our local cinemas did as a tribute to the legend. On arriving in Berlin there were continuous clues and tributes to the legends demise. Il post these shortly when i get to the Berlin chapter. RIP MJ, for all your faux Pas you sure wrote some stonkers.

So this summer we pretty much spent a whole week in Hyde Park attending various festivals and events including Bruce Springsteen, Blur, Neil Young, Bon Iver and our treasure Bobby Long. Each artists played their own consecutive event/ day via different promoters (who hooked us up, thanks ladies).
